I have recently "met" the sweetest ladies on facebook - they are a mother and daughter team who enjoy crafting, sewing, quilting, scrapbooking. Mom (Jean) does quilts and all sorts of other sewn/embroidered items. Daughter (Alicia) does hand crafted flowers, candle holders, and anything else that strikes her!

New Kitchen

For Christmas my parents gave us an awesome present... My dad, who is a contractor did a backsplash in my kitchen. It looks AMAZING! The kitchen looks like a whole new kitchen. Hubby and I liked it so much, we went out and got LED lights for under the cabinets. It looks totally awesome!

I've also been keeping the kitchen and countertops clean every night. I like to show off my backsplash - even if it's just for us. lol

Yummy Dinner

The other night I had a "theme" dinner. Not only was it easy, but it was super yummy. Well, most of it. lol

I mad steak fajitas with onions and peppers. It was SOOO good.

Then I made non-alcoholic pina colada to go with the fajitas. We enjoyed this treat!

I also made flan for dessert - however I didn't get a picture of it. It was the boxed kind and it did NOT turn out well at all. Hubby was scared to try it. lol I need to find a recipe to make flan from scratch. You guys got any good, easy recipes for flan?

Date Night...

Hubby and I seldomly go on dates. Mainly because we don't like leaving the boys with anyone and we hate bothering family to come over to babysit. My parents are usually not able to do it because my dad works crazy hours. So we usually ask hubby's parents. They love coming over to play with the kids!

So this past Friday night hubby and I got to have a special date night. We were celebrating our 10 year "dating" anniversary. lol We have been together for 10 years! WOW!
Hubby took me to PFChangs and it was soooooo good.
From the soup to the lettuce wrap, to the entree - we both got mongolian beef, to dessert. YUM! Now, when we order dessert I always go for chocolate cake. BUT our waiter mentioned a banana spring roll dessert that hubby seemed interested to try, so we went for it. OMGSH. That was delicious! Simply divine! It's these spring roll type shells with a banana inside and they fry it. Then they give you vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. I am drooling just thinking about it. lol

We had such a nice time. We walked around for a little bit. It was cold though. We held hands and at one point got so silly that we skipped a bit. haha! We were being silly. I was 19 when I met hubby and fell in love. We were kids back then and now here we are, married with 2 kids! Time does fly when you are having fun!

Holiday Traditions

So with Valentine's Day coming up, I thought I'd ask, do you do anything for the kids? Do you get them gifts? Do you make treats?

What about for your significant other?

Last year I got each boy their own pillow pet, which they LOVE! And I got hubby something special but for some reason I can't remember what. haha

And I made a special dinner.

This year I thought of taking the family to Moe's - it's the boys favorite. lol

I was going to buy little man the Peter Pan movie. He has been asking for it. I don't want to buy the kids any toys because lets face it, they are in toy over load after Christmas. lol

What do you do?

I have to get treats ready for Little Man's class and maybe bake some cookies.

This year hubby and I teach 5 year old Sunday School and I already got some treats to make the kids a Valentine's Day baggy.

And then there's Easter. Oh boy...
Easter baskets, candy, more cookies....

The Holidays can sure get expensive.
I try to keep it simple and mainly focus on the reason we celebrate the holiday!

I don't really care much for the TV. And I limit the amount of TV the boys watch.

But on some nights, I let them chill out in front of the TV watching educational/entertaining shows. Some favorites are Blue's Clues and Backyardigans. And of course the Disney Jr stuff. lol
Baby Boy is just now getting into the TV but he still doesn't sit for very long. He likes things with music, like the Little Einsteins (which I hate! lol).

My favorite is Mickey Mouse, Backyardigans and I do enjoy Handy Manny. lol

Another Memorable Christmas

My sister and I were Juniors in high school. All our friends got their class rings, but my dad was still making payments on ours and he said we couldn't get it until spring. My sis and I were ok with it. At least we were getting them. Though it was really hard to see everyone else with theirs... Looking back now, I cannot believe how much money those rings costs and my parents had to buy 2!

Well, Christmas break came... On Christmas morning we opened all our gifts. We had gotten some clothes, some stuffed animals. I got a talking frog - I used to collect frogs. My sister got a pig - she collected them. lol
Then my dad got this smile on his face- like a kid who had been up to no good. My parents have us look in our stockings after we opened all our gifts... We pull something out of it - low and behold, it was our class rings. 0_0 My dad worked very hard and drove all the way to the place that sold them and picked the rings up a few days before Christmas. How sweet is that? Isn't tha amazing?
Of course I proudly put on my ring and loved it!

Again, my parents always went above and beyond and did what they could to make us kids feel super special and even a little spoiled on Christmas morning!
That's what hubby and I do for our kids now. We've gone a little overboard in the past... This year we are trying to keep things simple but believe it or not, the boys are getting a little spoiled! lol

1st American Christmas

Do you have lots of memories from different Christmases?

We moved from South America to the USA when I was almost 11. It was August so we had only been here about 4 months when we spent our first Christmas here. My parents told us we would have no tree, no gifts... We were on a super tight budget and my parents just couldn't do much. My sister and I understood but were sad because we really wanted a Christmas. What kid doesn't?

I remember sometime before Christmas break was about to start, my sister and I were coming home from school and we saw some Christmas light on the window of our 2nd story apartment. We kind of got excited but weren't really sure what we saw. When we walked through the door of the apartment, my parents had the biggest smiles on the faces. There in the living room, stood a tiny little Christmas tree, it was no higher than 3 ft. It has dollar store ornaments and lights. To me, that was the prettiest little Christmas tree I'd ever seen. AND there were presents wrapped under the tree!!! It wasn't much, but we loved it! I was so excited! I just couldn't believe we had our very own tree and presents.

I even remember some of the stuff we got. It was some Barbie toys. And we sure loved it!

My parents were always making sacrifices for us and going out of their way to make Christmas special for the kids.
And that's what I like to do now for my kids. I love that my parents taught me that - to sacrifice for our children and to do the best we can for them. Now I know a lot of kids don't appreciate that. But I sure did! And it sure it impact my life. And I can see it in my kids, specially little man, that they appreciate what we do too. Little man has the sweetest and kindest spirit. He is so grateful! And I love that!

Can you believe Christmas is in 10 days?

I cannot believe it. Time flies!!! WOW!
Are you ready for it? I almost am. I hate that it goes by so fast. Christmas is my favorite time of the year and it comes and goes so fast. My favorite part about Christmas is watching my children's little faces as they open their presents. Well, this is the first year Baby Boy is more aware - last year he was 6 months old. We've tried to keep the presents pretty even for the boys. When I was growing up, my mom made sure my sister, my brother and I always got the same amount of gifts. So that's what I try to do with the boys. Hubby went to Toys R Us and got each boy a MAC truck (from the movie CARS). They are very similar but age appropriate for each boy - I think that's one of my favorites! Oh and of course the "big" present is tickets for Disney World. lol We're going with the boys grandparents. I am stoked!!!

Anyway, I can't wait for my kids to enjoy their day. It will be a lot of fun.

I think by now you guys know I am obsessed with monnogram and personalized stuff. If I could I'd have all my stuff personalized. lol I just love my boys' initials and I love to have the letter of our last name all over the place. haha. No it's not that bad. I do have a wooden letter hanging on our living room wall and it looks great! I've gotten tons of compliments.

Recently I've discovered beautiful etched glasses done by Dreaming By The Sea. I got 4 of them with the initial of my last name. I only use them when I have guests. I spent most of my weekend sick, in bed!
But on Saturday morning I gave in and went shopping with baby boy in tow. My mother in law met me at the mall and we shopped. It was fun! But when I got home I was exhausted! The good thing is I am almost done. We just need a couple of little things for the boys. And I have to finish getting the stocking stuffers. But for the most part we are done!!! I can't believe it.
I hate the mall and don't like going during Christmas time. But believe it or not, it was very calm and empty on Saturday. I guess everyone went on Black Friday. lol I stayed away from shopping on Friday. I have friends that camped out for days to get a deal.

I love spending time with my family of 4. I love us time!
I enjoy getting away and just having special family dates. We try to do it often but sometimes it's hard finding fun, free activities. lol

We have a playground set in the backyard and now that the weather is PERFECT we have been taking little man out there to play. He LOVES it!!! He climbs the steps and goes down the slide a bunch of times. And then he swings back and forth. Although, he doesn't go very high. He has yet to try the monkey bars, he is kind of scared. But I'm pretty sure soon he will be all over those as well!

Hubby and I finally did! PHEW! We are keeping things very simple. But nonetheless we do have fmaily members to shop for. We are pretty much done with our brothers. I am done with 1 niece and halfway done with the other.

Have you guys ever gotten dressed to go somewhere, picked out that special outfit that you always feel good in, did your hair, make up, had the perfect accessories and thought you looked amazing, only to look in the mirror and find it wasn't so? Maybe your hair didn't curl or straighten the right way, or the dress doesn't fit as well because of some bloating or extra weight, or the worse, a huge pimple has surfaced on your face and there is not enough concealer or foundation to cover it up... Nonetheless, you still feel somewhat good about yourself, you head out for your special day out... Then you run into them, the Barbie dolls. You've seen them, they are perfect from head to toe. Their makeup is flawless, there is not one strand of hair out of place, their dress fits perfectly, they have the perfect matching jewelry, even their nails are done. They look like Barbie. Yep, doesn't that just make you cringe?

That happens to me more times than I can count. Why is it that I can't pull myself together that way? I don't need to be as skinny as Barbie, gosh, no way, I like my curves. lol But I'd like to at least be somewhat put together. lol

We went to the pumpkin patch this past weekend and had a blast! I LOVE making memories with our boys.

Afterwards little man asked for Moes so we took him there. Not my favorite but all 3 boys like it there.

It was a fun family day and we really enjoyed it!

Little Man was on a mission to find the perfect pumpkin. It was so cute. He went all around looking for it.

Baby Boy kept calling the pumpkins balls! It was funny.

An Overwhelming weekend...

Last weekend was totally overwhelming. Not only was I super busy, but it was a very emotional weekend for me. My first baby turned 5. He is growing so fast right before my very eyes! I am so thankful he is healthy and strong and amazing! He is smart and sweet and loving. It's wonderful to see what an amazing little boy he is becoming. I love being a mommy and I love my children very much. They are my whole world! My little boy thanked me over and over again for his birthday. How sweet is that? I guess I am doing something right! lol

Being a mom is great, but it's also soooo hard. I don't take any of it for granted. On the hard days, like when little man gets in trouble at school I just take a deep breath and take a minute to thank God for giving him to me. There are so many women out there that long to be a mom and never get to do that.

I went off the subject. lol After a long weekend last weekend, I am hoping for an easier weekend. I want a day of doing NOTHING. I know, impossible. lol

Little man's birthday was on Sunday so we made pirate cupcakes for the kids in his Sunday School class. The kids loved it! He also wanted to celebrate his birthday with his friends at school so on Monday hubby took the day off and we took pirate cupcakes to school. I thought they came out so cute! The kids really enjoyed them.

Little man had a great weekend celebrating his birthday and I loved making his day, rather weekend super special.

Over the weekend we had a little celebration for little man's 5th birthday. He begged for a pirate party, so I did that for him. :) He LOVED IT! :) Nothing like putting a smile on his face. It's so worth it! I got a lot of decorations from Etsy and Michaels. And of course the Dollar Store. Hubby made a pirate flag for the playground too. It was great! Everyone had a great time and we enjoyed spending time with family. I love spoiling all my boys for their birthdays!
Little man has thanked a lot for his birthday and he told me he had a great weekend. So mission accomplished!

Chinese food

Do you guys like Chinese food? What's your favorite?

Hubby and I always order sweet and sour chicken, eggrolls (for him) and cream cheese wontons. YUM! Well, the other day I wanted something different. So we ordered orange chicken. It was SOOOOOO good. I think I now have a new fave! Of course I had to get the darn fattening cream cheese wontons. lol I can't have Chinese without them.

You know what's funny? We always order from the same place. The lady that answers the phone knows my voice and my order. As soon as I walk in to pick up my food, she knows who I am. So when I went to get this last order, she was shocked I didn't get the sweet and sour chicken. lol

Maybe we should cut back on the Chinese. hahaha. To be honest we only eat it like once a month.

Hot Date!

Hubby and I hate leaving the boys and going out without them. Most of our date nights happen after they go to bed and we just hang out at the house watching movies or just talking... It works for us. lol

This past Satuday one of hubby's co-workers was getting married. I had met her a few times and we thought we should go without the kids. We got dressed up and went. My mother in law and brother in law came to stay with the kids. Hubby and I didn't even know what to do without the kids. No toting diaper bags around, no buckling and un-buckling car seats, no strollers... lol The wedding was so sweet. You could clearly see they were deeply in love. Don't you enjoy seeing a couple make this life long commitment? It's awesome.

Afterwards we went to the reception and sat in a tabe with some fun work people. The food was amazing. The couple had their first dance and it was clearly choreographed but sweet.
Then the bride danced with her dad. That was so sweet. I told hubby we needed a daughter so he could have a father/daughter dance one day. He didn't go for it. lol

The couple made their way to our table and we said our hellos. The bride wore a beautiful gown. There weren't that many people there so I am glad we went to support them. Then the DJ played an Elvis song that I LOVE. But hubby doesn't like to dance. :( So alas, I sat and watched the bride's parents dancing with each other - they have been married for probably close to if not over 50 years. It was such a precious sight!

Hubby and I really enjoyed our night out and spending time together. It's nice to be out and every once in a while without the boys.

When we got home, as soon as I walked in the door, baby boy ran down the hall to greet me. It's always nice to be greeted by my kids smiling faces. Neither one of them left my side all night afterwards. I felt loved!

The weekend goes by way too fast, doesn't it?

Saturday we were gone all day. We took the boys to the mall in the morning so they could ride the choo choo train. Then ran home and got dressed for a wedding. My mother in law and brother in law came over to babysit the boys. And hubby and I got dressed up to go to a wedding. (another post about this to come!)

On Sunday we went to church, then got some yummy Chinese for lunch and then after a much needed nap hubby and I got busy doing some arts and crafts. He is way better at it than me! We bought black fabric at Hobby Lobby and he painted a white skull and crossbones. It's a pirate flag! We are putting it up on the boys' tower on their playground set. I am super stoked about this!

Then he went to paint the treasure chest I got from Michaels. It looks great!

Afterwards we were going through some stuff in the garage and I found a bag of little man's old clothes. There were s few 2T stuff on there and baby boy can wear them now. :) It is such a blessing! I am so excited to have found that stuff for baby boy!

So we ordered some winter clothes for the boys online from the Children's Place and Old Navy. We got the box in the mail and when we were opening the clothes and trying it on them, they were both going insane. lol I have never seen 2 boys so excited over clothes.
Little man has always been fond of looking sharp and he loves to wear ties to church. We got him a blazer and tie and he was so excited. It was so cute.

We have spent the last few days SICK! It started with the kids and then me. And now hubby. But you know how it goes.. Mommy doesn't have time to be sick. I spent 1 afternoon in bed and let hubby deal with the kids. That night I came out and the house was a mess. The kitchen was in total chaos.
I was too sick to care. I was shivering all day and so sick to my stomach. Hubby stayed home yesterday to take care of the boys and me. I spent half the night awake with a pounding headache. I finally was able to eat some crackers and ginger ale and took a motrin. Hubby got me a heating pad for my head and I finally was able to fall asleep.
I haven't been sick like this in a long time...
I am so thankful that hubby was able to stay home to take care of us...

Pirate Birthday Planning

I am planning little man's 5th birthday party. Can you believe it? He is going to be 5. Jeez, time flies. This is a hard one for me. I know kids have to grow. And I am so thankful he is growing up so well and healthy. Being that this is an important birthday we are planning a little party for him and he is so excited! I am sure you guessed it, it's a pirate themed party and I am having SO much fun planning it! Little man sure is excited about his pirate party and he wants to invite all his class mates. Not gonna happen. lol We are trying to keep it small and just invite some close friends.
I went to Michaels and got a chest so we can have a treasure chest. Hubby is painting it black. I also got a skull. Kind of scary looking but what's a pirate party without a skull? lol We are also making a pirate flag and putting it on his playground.

I still need to go to Party City and get a few other supplies like eyepatches, telescopes and maybe some swords.

I also found some super cute stuff on Etsy of course. lol

Do you guys have any suggestions on what else I need for a pirate party?

I feel like I am being pulled in a million different directions. I feel like there should be at least 4 of me. lol Between taking kid #1 to school, picking him up, groceries, laundry, dishes, ironing uniforms, choir practice, cleaning, working, cooking, cleaning and trying to spend family time. PHEW! I get exhausted. Also because I stress myself out. I am the kind of person that needs things done yesterday. Know what I mean? If things need to be done, do it now, why wait?
So last Friday afternoon, my husband took one look at me and just knew I needed to just drop everything and have a family night. So he took us to dinner and Dave and Busters. It was so much fun. I really needed that. And I know that the boys needed that time with me too. We played lots of fun games and I will always cherish that. I still remember little man's smiles.
So after that, I realized I needed to re-adjust my schedule. I spent the weekend cleaning and doing laundry. I ironed all of little man's uniforms on Saturday. SO during the week I didn't need to do laundry. I just need to mellow out and I haven't been able to. I am trying to teach myself that the most important thing is my boys and spending time with them.

Little Man's remodel

So Little Man's room has always been a car theme. My husband collects die cast model cars and we used to decorate the room. This past weekend we went to Hobby Lobby and got him a big boy picture for above his bed. He loves it. It was half off so that is awesome. I thought it was cute to see the boys (hubby included) admiring all the goodies Hobby Lobby has to offer. lol

Hubby also picked this one out for a different wall in Little Man's room.

We are going to be spending the weekend with some relatives. We are getting together with my husband's cousins and their wives. We all had baby boys last year. One cousin has a 1 year old who is a bit older than my baby boy, and the other cousin has twin boys who will be 1 at the end of the month. So it should be fun! Lots of little boys running around. :)

Little man started school last week. He LOVES it which makes me happy! He went part time to a 3 year old class last year. This year he is in pre-kindergarden. Can you believe it? Next year he will be going to kindergarden.
We are trying to get used to the new routine. It sure is hard though. We got used to cuddling in bed in the mornings and just taking it easy. Now we get up at 6:45 and are out of the door by 8. Little man has to be in school at 8:30. Then baby boy and I come home, he takes a nap and I get started on work. I then pick little man up at noon and we have lunch time, nap time and more work for mom. I feel like a taxi service, cook, maid, laundromat and housekeeper. Add to it that I work from home. It is a lot. I also started working with the 4 year olds at church, which I love! And on Wednesdays we go to church at 6 for little man to go to choir.
So it's busy around here during the week. Very chaotic and very stressful. But I wouldn't have it any other way. OH and add to it that my Sunday afternoons are spent ironing uniforms for the week. hehehe.
I have nothing to complain about. I am so thankful for a husband that helps me. An awesome Christian school for little man to go to. Great teachers and an amazing, supportive family!

I was throwing my sister a baby shower a few months ago and my mom was supposed to do the invitations for it. But she got sick and couldn't do it. I went into frantic mode. Tomorrow is my twin sister and my bday! I love sharing my birthday with my sister. She is so amazing. She is ALWAYS there for me. No matter what. She is a wonderful sister, an amazing auntie to my boys, and a terrific friend! We talk everyday and the days when we don't talk to each other, we miss it! We at least try to stay in touch via facebook and texts. lol We can talk about anything and everything. She is so beautiful inside and out! And she is so incredibly sweet. She was born 3 minutes after me 29 years ago. My parents had no idea they were having twins. So the doctor took me out, and then tells my parents, oh there's another one in there. Needless to say she was a surprise and a blessing! I am so thankful for my sister. God has truly blessed me with her. Happy birthday sis!

How do we cool off on a HOT day. We set up a little pool in the backyard. The best $20 I ever spent. And the best part is that we ALL fit in it. lol The boys really enjoy it. Last week I became an auntie again! WOOHOO! My sister had her second baby. It was so exciting. I now have 2 beautiful nieces.

When my oldest son saw her, he fell in love and kept giving her kisses. When baby boy saw her he had no idea what to think. He kept giving her this look like, "what's that thing mommy is holding and why isn't she holding me?" lol It was cute.

I am so thankful for those sweet girls and that my sister and I get to raise our babies together. Our kids love being with each other and they enjoy playing together!

If you haven't guessed, last week I became a Citizen of the USA. It is so exciting! My parents worked so hard for this to come true. We moved here when I was almost 11 and my parents worked very hard so that their kids could have a better life. I am so thankful that they were brave enough to follow their dreams and chase the American dream. Because of them, I got to have an awesome education, meet my husband and raise my boys in this awesome country.

Neither my husband or I were born here and we both became Citizens because of our parents. We never take the fact that we are Citizens for granted. And we want to raise our boys that way. We want our sons to know that both sets of grandparents sacrificed A LOT and worked very hard for us to be here. And now our boys are American born. How amazing is that? We want our sons to have an even better life than we did.

I am so thankful to my parents for everything they have done for us. I will never forget how hard and scary it was at first. And how easy it would have been for them to give up and pack our bags to go back. But that was never an option. And for that I am grateful.

And now, I am Proud to be an American!!!

Today my sister has a bunch of doctor's appointments so I get to keep my niece for the day. I am so exited. That means I will have 3 kids running around but they entertain each other. lol
I have a whole fun day planned filled with coloring, playing and movies. Notice there is no nap time in my plans. lol There is no way little man and my niece will stop playing to take a nap. hahaha.
OH and I am going to make them some chocolate chip cookies!

McD's Smoothie

Have you guys tried the smoothies from McDonalds? I had not tried any of them. I love smoothies and we usually make strawberry smoothies at home.

But when I saw McDs had a mango/pineapple flavor, I knew I had to try it! I had it over the weekend and really enjoyed it. It's very refreshing and very yummy! Mango is one of my absolute favorite fruits.

If you haven't tried it, go for it when you get a chance! Let me know what you think. :)

I cannot believe I do not have any pictures with my brother. 0_0 Up until recently he hated taking pictures. lol
Anyway, today is my "little" brother's birthday. He is turning 19. I cannot belive that. I still remember the day he was born. I was almost 10. My grandpa watched my sister and I while my mom was in the hospital. The first time I saw him, he was this huge, chunky baby boy. All I saw was cheeks and thighs and lots of rolls. lol Now he is this tall, skinny dude who towers over me. I am so proud of him and all his accomplishments. He is a very intelligent man. I hope that he accomplishes all his dreams and goals. Happy Birthday bro!

In planning baby boy's circus party, I thought it would be cute to have pinwheels displayed as well. Pinwheels are fun and the kids enjoy them! SO I got some really cute ones that were used for decorations from ArtRecycles. They have hand crafted, one-of-a-kind organizers and gifts that play on nature and childhood memories. Baby Shower

Picture heavy post! :)

This past weekend I threw my sister's baby shower. I LOVED every second of it. The shower was on Saturday morning and we had brunch. On Friday night my amazing husband helped me clean the hosue and get the house ready. I have never seen so much pink and zebra print put together. lol This will most likely be my only pink party, so I enjoyed every second of it! My wonderful mother in law made all the yummy food. She is so sweet and wonderful for helping me. My sister's mother in law made a very yummy chocolate cake. We had a blast and my sister got a lot of goodies!
I wanted to post pictures of the shower and all the amazing goodies I got on etsy!
